1. On the same 16th day, we inspected the Nota-uchiba Okubo domain forest. In the official records, there is no famous place called Nota-uchiba. We believe it is a sub-name within Okubo. Adding these two locations would match the acreage of the Okubo domain forest. Domain forest markers have been erected at both locations, and those making claims from the village say that the place called Nota-uchiba is a domain forest of 4 chō, 1 tan, 6 se, and 20 bu. However, when compared with Okubo, it is only about one-third of that area, making the village's claim difficult to accept. We believe it is indeed a sub-name within Okubo that the villagers are privately calling Nota-uchiba. From there we went up to the ridge and gradually inspected the conditions of the village and privately-held mountains, proceeding to Shichizō-ji temple. Rain began to fall, but wearing rain gear we proceeded to Karaki-sawa, where the rain stopped. We inspected the conditions of six famous places of domain forests there, made sketch maps and records, and returned after nightfall. The guides for these locations included, besides village officials, Karaki-sawa's Heijirōemon, Gorōzaemon, Yozaemon and others.
1. On the same 17th day, we called together the landholders of the aforementioned locations - 27 people total from Kamishima village, Imamura, and our village, plus people from Imamura's Kōjū-ji temple and Karaki-sawa area - and questioned each individually. They raised various difficulties and objections, but yielded to reason. Having no particular response, they all requested a postponement until the following morning, which we acknowledged. However, they continued to raise various difficulties throughout the night, but these were unacceptable so we put the matter aside. Notably, among these people, those possessing transfer documents...
