一、御上り昆布（別名：天下昆布） 汐首岬より東、シカ（鹿部）にかけての海浜で産する。長さは三〜四丈（約九〜十二メートル）、幅は五〜六寸（約十五〜十八センチ）。紅・黄・緑色を帯びており、採取後は清浄な場所を選んで乾燥させる。五十枚を一把とし、さらにその束を昆布で包み、十六か所を結んで朝廷（庁）に奉る。これは昆布の中の絶品とされる。
一、シノリ昆布は箱館（はこだて）の東の海で産する。長さは七尋（ひろ）余り（約十二〜十三メートル以上）、幅は一尺三〜四寸（約四十〜四十二センチ）、緑色で味は甘美である。この昆布は中国（唐山）へ送られる。

**On *Oagari Konbu*** (also known as *Tenka Konbu* ["Realm Kelp"]): This variety is produced along the coastal shores from Shiokubi Cape eastward to Shika (Shikabe). It grows to a length of three to four *jō* (approximately 9–12 meters) and a width of five to six *sun* (approximately 15–18 cm). It displays hues of red, yellow, and green. After harvesting, a clean and pure location is selected for drying. Fifty sheets are bundled into one sheaf (*taba*), which is then wrapped in kelp and bound in sixteen places before being offered to the authorities (the magistrate's office or the court). This is regarded as the finest variety of kelp.
**On *Shinori Konbu***: This variety is produced in the sea to the east of Hakodate. It grows to a length of more than seven *hiro* (approximately 12–13+ meters) and a width of one *shaku* three to four *sun* (approximately 40–42 cm). It is green in color and has a sweet, delicious flavor. This kelp is sent to China (*Tōzan*).
**On *Kashikonbu* (Confection Kelp)**: This variety is dark greenish-black in color, approximately one *shaku* (about 30 cm) in length, and has an exceptionally sweet and delicious flavor. It is produced on the seafloor from Shiokubi Cape extending toward Shika (Shikabe).
**On the variety from the Ezo territories of Mitsushi, Horoizumi, and Shiranutka**: This variety grows to a length of more than seven *hiro* (approximately 12–13+ meters) and a width of three to four *sun* (approximately 9–12 cm), and is green in color. Beyond these, kelp is also produced at various other locations, but these are considered ordinary, miscellaneous grades.
