現代語訳
**クンネチロノツプ図**
シコタン島に産する狐である。
毛の色は淡い黒色である。
『続日本紀』に曰く、和銅五年（712年）七月、
伊賀国の国司・阿直敬らが
黒狐を献上した。これはすなわち上瑞（最上級の吉祥）に当たるとされ、
国司以下の者たちに位階を追贈した。

**Figure of the Kunne-chiro-no-tsup**
This is a fox native to Shikotan Island.
Its fur is a pale black color.
As recorded in the *Shoku Nihongi*: In the seventh month of the fifth year of Wadō (712 CE), the provincial governor of Iga Province, Atai no Kei and others, presented a black fox as tribute. This was deemed a *jōzui* (an auspicious omen of the highest order), and the provincial governor and those below him were retroactively granted increases in court rank.
