現代語訳
ヘラシトミカモイ（松前では俗に「鍬先」と呼ぶ）大きさ一尺五寸、表は革を張り、金銀の具鋲を図のように施し、裏は鎚で打った金属板である。これはアイヌにとって第一の神器とされる。古くは甲冑に用いる革の器であったと思われる。呼造曲（ユカラ）の中にも、造鳥神（コルモシリカモイ）が天より降り給うことを歌い伝えている。家の中に置けば不浄のこともあろうかと、清浄な土地を選んで一棟を建てて安置する。また山林や深い谷の洞窟にも秘蔵することがある。宝暦年間の新歳四月、カヤベ浦の湯の崎の丘より数枚が掘り出された。革の部分は朽ちて、鋲のみが残っており、首長オテレキがこれを所蔵している。
英語訳
Herashitomikaмoi (colloquially called "Kuwasaki" [hoe-tip] in Matsumae): measuring one shaku five sun in size, the front is covered with leather and decorated with gold and silver ornamental rivets as shown in the diagram, while the back is a hammered metal plate. This is considered the foremost sacred object (divine implement) among the Ainu. It was likely originally a leather implement used in armor in ancient times. In the Yukara (epic songs), it is sung and passed down that the bird-creating deity (Korumoroshiri Kamuy) descended from the heavens. Fearing that keeping it in the home might expose it to impurity, a clean plot of land is chosen and a separate structure is built for its enshrinement. It is also secretly stored in caves found in mountain forests and deep valleys. In the fourth month of the New Year during the Hōreki era, several pieces were excavated from a hill at Yunozaki in Kayabe Bay. The leather portions had rotted away, leaving only the rivets, and these are kept in the possession of the chieftain Otereki.
