現代語訳
ヘラシトミカモイ（松前の俗称では「鍬先」という）大きさ一尺五寸、表面は革を張り、金銀の金具と鋲を打ってある（図の通り）。裏面は鎚で打った板金製である。これはアイヌにとって第一級の神器とされている。古くは甲冑の一部であったと思われる。ユーカラ（叙事詩）の中でも造鳥神（コルモシリカモイ）が天より降臨したことを歌い伝えている。家にあっては不浄なことがあってはならないとして、清浄な土地を選んで一棟の建物を建てて安置する。また山林や幽谷の洞窟にも秘蔵している。宝暦年間の新年四月、カヤベ浦の湯の崎の丘から数枚が掘り出された。革の部分は朽ちて鋲のみが残存しており、首長オテレキが所蔵している。
英語訳
Herashitomi Kamoi (commonly called "kuwasaki" or "hoe tip" by the people of Matsumae) measures one shaku and five sun in length. The front surface is covered with leather and decorated with gold and silver fittings and studs (as shown in the diagram). The back is made of hammered sheet metal. This is considered the most sacred ritual object among the Ainu. It was likely originally part of armor in ancient times. Even in the Yukar (epic poems), it is sung and passed down that the bird-creating god (Korumoshiri Kamoi) descended from heaven. When kept in homes, to avoid any defilement, a pure location is selected and a special building is constructed for its enshrinement. They are also secretly treasured in mountain forests and deep valley caves. In the fourth month of the New Year during the Hōreki era, several pieces were excavated from a hill at Yunozaki in Kayabe Bay. The leather portions had rotted away, leaving only the metal studs, and these are kept in the collection of Chief Otereki.
