**大船の図**
蝦夷地の首長たちが役所へ上る（出向く）際に、大きさ七尋半（約13.5メートル）ほどの舟を作り、箱館・松前へ来ることを「ウイマム」という。按ずるに、これは「初めて謁見する」という意味の語であろう。また、キイタップ（気宇多？）・クナシリ（国後）辺りの首長が猟虎（ラッコ）の島（シマ）へ至る時も、この図のように舟を飾り整えて出向くのである。

**Illustration of the Large Boat**
When the chiefs of Ezo (Ainu lands) travel to the administrative offices, they build boats approximately seven and a half hiro (roughly 13.5 meters) in length, and their arrival at Hakodate and Matsumae is called "Uimamu." This term likely means "meeting for the first time" (a formal audience). Similarly, when chiefs from the areas of Kiitappu and Kunashiri travel to the island of the sea otter (Rakko), they decorate and prepare their boats as shown in this illustration.
