夫之存念相立度枚込居候處

類共睦敷義事弥増二致し

被下候所其後別而心付家業
励候由相聞寄扱成義二付猶又為
御称美鳥目被下之候

現代語訳
ようやく商売を続けることができているので、夫の志を継ぎたいと思い込んでいたところ、翌年類焼に遭い、その後中町へ引き移って荷物商いをし、様々な商品を買い出しする際は自身で在郷まで出向いて骨を折って商売をしていた。しかし夫の清三郎の生存中からの借財もあり、その上元手が少なく商売を続けることが困難になったため、やむを得ず新町の持家へ引き移った。子供たちもそれぞれ他家に預けて継ぎの仕事や職替えなどに精を出し、繭の仕入れ時期には二、三里ほどの在郷へ仕入れに出かけ、生糸を挽いてから絹織りまで骨を折って行い、寸暇もない中で、親類との関係も睦まじく、このことがますます良くなっているとのことを聞いた。以前にも鳥目を下賜したところ、その後特に心がけて家業に励んでいるとのことを聞き、立派な行いであるので、なお一層御称美として鳥目を下賜する。この御仁恵の趣旨を理解し、この上とも励むべきである。

She was gradually able to continue her business, and was determined to fulfill her husband's intentions. However, the following year she suffered fire damage, and afterwards moved to Nakamachi where she engaged in goods trading. When purchasing various merchandise, she would go out to rural areas herself, working hard at her business. However, there were debts remaining from when her husband Seizaburo was still alive, and with insufficient capital, it became difficult to continue the business. Therefore, she had no choice but to move to her owned house in Shinmachi. She placed her children with other families for apprenticeships and job training, working diligently. During cocoon purchasing season, she would travel two to three ri to rural areas for procurement, working hard from silk thread spinning to silk weaving without a moment's rest. Meanwhile, her relationships with relatives remained harmonious, and this has been improving even further, as we have heard. Previously, coins were granted to her, and since then we have heard that she pays particular attention and works diligently at her family business. As this is praiseworthy conduct, coins are once again granted as further commendation. She should understand the meaning of this benevolent favor and continue to strive even harder.
