衣類並櫛かうがい簪等之儀
前々より厳敷御制度有之候所
兎角馳之勝リ而心得違之者も
有之咎筋申付候処を以稀二者
御法度之品を相用候者有之
不埒之事二候衣類者木綿二
限り袖口半襟等も絹類並
糸入縞且金銀並鼈甲者
不及申右品二紛敷色付櫛
かんさし櫛こうがい弥以停止
現代語訳
お赦免くださるよう願い出た趣旨については、
全く根拠がないとは聞こえないが、病気が差し障りと
なる義についても聞こえてこないので差し留める。
これにより願い出は差し戻す。
右の趣旨について各々立ち合いの上申し渡されるべきである。以上

右の通り仰せ付けられたので、両御奉行様へ
庄太郎殿同道で東義がお礼に参上した。
立石殿の書役・小頭中には東のみで計らい
お礼を致し回った。
一、二十四日御倹約御書付は左の通り
衣類並びに櫛・笄・簪等の件について
前々より厳しい御制度があったところ
とかく奢侈に走りがちで心得違いの者も
あり、咎める筋から申し付けたところでも稀に
御法度の品を用いる者がある
不埒なことである。衣類は木綿に
限り、袖口・半襟等も絹類並びに
糸入縞かつ金銀並びに鼈甲は
申すまでもなく、右の品に紛らわしい色付き櫛、
かんざし・櫛・笄はいよいよもって停止する

Regarding clothing as well as combs, kōgai, and hairpins
There have been strict regulations from long ago, but
there is a tendency toward extravagance and some people
are misguided, and even after issuing reprimands through proper channels,
there are still those who rarely use prohibited items
This is improper conduct. Clothing should be limited to
cotton only, and sleeve openings and half-collars should also avoid silk fabrics and
striped patterns with silk threads, as well as gold, silver, and tortoiseshell, which
go without saying. Colored combs that resemble the above items,
hairpins, combs, and kōgai are all the more strictly prohibited.
