但下駄緒草履下駄
等茂成丈手軽成を用
無益之費無之様可致事
右之條々前々より触示置
御領分中御取締筋厳重二

品を相用近頃別而女子供
心得違之もの多分有之

ただし下駄の緒、草履の下緒等も
なるべく手軽なものを用い、
無益な費用がないようにすること
右の条々は前々より触書で示し置かれ、
御領分中の御取締筋を厳重に
仰せ出され、衣類をはじめ品々の
御制度もあり相慎むべき事であるところ、
年数も経過し、年若の者どもは
しっかりと御制禁筋を理解しない
者どもも有り、稀には心得
違いの者があることにつき、なお改めて
触書で示し置く。いよいよ厳重に相守り、
家業に支障がある時は町役場へ
集まり、小者や末々まで漏れのないよう度々
読み聞かせるべし。万一心得違いの
者があれば、その身は言うに及ばず、
町役人どもまでも越度となるであろう。
右の通り天保十三年寅年六月中に
触書で示し、なお去る酉年七月中にも
触れたところ、とかく御制禁の
品を用いることが近頃特に女子供で
心得違いの者が多分にある。

for clothing and various other items that should be observed.
However, as years have passed, young people
do not properly understand the official prohibitions,
and there are some who are misguided. Therefore,
this is proclaimed again in official notices. These rules must be strictly observed,
and when there are disruptions to business, gather at the town office
and repeatedly read these aloud to ensure that even servants
and the lowest ranks do not miss hearing them. Should there be anyone who is misguided,
not only will that person be held responsible,
but even the town officials will be found at fault.
As stated above, this was proclaimed in the sixth month
of Tenpō 13 (1842), year of the Tiger, and again
in the seventh month of the year of the Rooster.
However, the use of prohibited
items has recently become particularly common among women and children
who are misguided.
