The above two documents were submitted to the supervisor (otorigashira) at the official office on the ninth day, via a hired messenger. Regarding Shimomachi's Masahachi, as he had been under inquiry from Takahashi-moto, and in accordance with general regulations, he was instructed to submit a petition for exemption from payment of the water-duty levy (omizuyakukin). Accordingly, on the morning of the tenth day, the town representative (chōdai) of Shimomachi was summoned and so informed.
