乍恐以書付奉願上候御事
私義只今迠《割書：庄助与申一行目｜鍛冶職二行目》平沢傳重弟子二而御水相勤職分仕罷在候処年季明無滞暇取候ニ付
≪みせけち自分ニ相成≫《見せ消ち：自分ニ相成》此度市兵衛与改名仕 猶又御水相勤職仕度願上候何卒以 御慈悲願之通被 仰付被 下置候ハヽ難有仕合奉存候御事

恐れながら書付をもって願い上げ申し上げる件について
私は今まで（庄助と申しておりましたが、鍛冶職として）平沢伝重の弟子として御水相勤の職分を勤めて参りましたが、年季が明け滞りなく暇をいただきましたので、この度市兵衛と改名いたします。なお、引き続き御水相勤の職を勤めたく願い上げます。何卒ご慈悲をもって願いの通りお聞き届けくださいますれば、ありがたい仕合わせと存じます。

I have until now served in the capacity of御水相勤 (water-related duties) as a disciple of Hirasawa Denshige (previously called Shōsuke, working as a blacksmith), but having completed my term of service and received proper dismissal, I now change my name to Ichibei. Furthermore, I wish to continue serving in the御水相勤 position. I humbly request that you graciously grant my petition, which would be a most grateful blessing.
