私の儀、四十年来御水役を相勤め桶屋職仕り罷り在り候ところ、年寄り
その上眼病につき職分相勤め難く存じ奉り候。これにより御水役
半減に成し下し置かれ候様願い上げ奉り候。

又々辰年十一月右の願いを致したく申し出候につき、高橋氏申し上げ候ところ、「これまで右様な例があったか」とのお尋ね
がございました。袋町幾七、文政八酉年に願い奉り半役御免の趣旨書き付け差し上げ候。同十一月十二日庄左衛門呼び
出しこれあり、御同人より御沙汰、「当年より半役御免仰せ出され候」。

and additionally eye disease, I find it difficult to perform my duties. Therefore, I petition that
my water works duties be reduced by half.

The above endorsement was submitted through Lord Takahashi Isozaemon's mediation on the 15th day, but since there was no official response,
he applied again to make the same petition in the 11th month of the Dragon year. When Lord Takahashi inquired about this, he was asked "Have there been such precedents before?"
Ikushichi of Fukuromachi submitted a document regarding a petition for half-duty exemption in Bunsei 8, Year of the Rooster. On the 12th day of the same 11th month, Shōzaemon was summoned,
and the official notice from him was "Half-duty exemption is granted from this year."
